‘I’ve nothing left’: Rhodes secure proprietor picks up the items after wildfire destroys livelihood

Dimitris has misplaced every part.

Until Saturday, he owned a secure. Now all that is left is ash.

The constructing and automobiles have been decimated. In minutes, wildfires destroyed every part he had labored for.

“I lost my life. I don’t care about the money because this was my life… now we have nothing,” he says.

Dimitris is predicated in Kiotari, on the Greek island of Rhodes.

It’s one of many resorts which needed to be evacuated over the weekend.

“I cried when I saw it the first time. I cried, and I’m not the only one,” he says.

In the height season, he explains, Rhodes welcomes 200,000 guests a day.

While large swathes of the island stay unaffected, it is an earnings no-one can afford to lose.

This fireplace season has already taken a lot from Greece.

On Evia, two air force pilots died after their plane crashed as they helped to struggle the blazes.

On Rhodes, flames are nonetheless forcing individuals from their properties and leaving many questioning their futures. But they don’t seem to be giving up.
