Daniil Medvedev vows to get US Open followers kicked out after rowdy Alcaraz crowd

Daniil Medvedev has warned that he won’t hesitate to get followers kicked out of tennis stadiums when he retires from the game. Medvedev was left annoyed by a rowdy group of Spaniards who disrupted the closing phases of his semi-final victory over Carlos Alcaraz

The 27-year-old overcame Alcaraz in a stunning four-set victory, incomes revenge for his Wimbledon semi-final defeat towards the starlet earlier this summer time. A repeat of Medvedev’s 2021 US Open overcome Novak Djokovic awaits. 

But the World No 3 was left annoyed by a small group within the Arthur Ashe crowd. He reported Alcaraz followers ‘shouting’ between serves within the last moments of the match. 

Medvedev mentioned it was ‘not nice’ however quipped that he would get spectators thrown out of stadiums as soon as he retires. Despite that, he praised the ‘special energy’ contained in the stadium for almost all of the competition.

“Yeah, first of all, this game was absolutely amazing. Every time, because I think if you say seven deuces, he probably had like six game points and I managed to use my second breakpoint,” Medvedev mentioned.

“I felt like the energy was special. It’s just that, as I say, for whatever reason in the last game of the match, probably a thousand Spanish guys started yelling and shouting between first and second serve. 

“That’s not nice, but what can you do? I can tell you if after my career I’m somewhere at a tennis match and someone does it, I’m going to be like, It’s him, this guy, these guys should be out of the tournament. 

“I’m not even going to watch the match. I’m going to be like, It’s him who did it. Kick him out. When I’m on the court, I have to just focus and try to win it.”

Medvedev was in a position to nullify Alcaraz and hailed his own performance as a ‘12 out of 10’ display. He now has the chance so as to add to his 2021 title. 

“Every time he had these game points, I was, like, I was saying to myself, I can win this game. I can win this game. I managed to hit some amazing points. We were both pumping up the crowd, because the points were unbelievable,” Medvedev added.

“When I gained it, I used to be like, ‘Let’s go, try to finish the match’. I managed to do it. As I mentioned, the group was unbelievable at the moment.”
