Antony: Manchester United winger placed on depart of absence after assault claims by three ladies

Manchester United have positioned winger Antony on a depart of absence as he faces abuse accusations from three ladies in Brazil.

Last week, Antony was dropped from the Brazil squad following the preliminary allegations of abuse made by former girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin.

Two other women have since alleged he assaulted them.

In a press release on Sunday, Manchester United stated it “acknowledges the allegations made against Antony”.

“Players who have not participated in international matches are due back in training on Monday. However, it has been agreed with Antony that he will delay his return until further notice in order to address the allegations.”

The membership stated it condemns acts of violence and abuse, including it recognises the “importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation”, and “acknowledges the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse”.

Antony himself stated: “I’ve agreed with Manchester United to take a interval of absence whereas I tackle the allegations made in opposition to me.

“This was a mutual decision to avoid distraction to my teammates and unnecessary controversy for the club.

“I wish to reiterate my innocence of the issues I’ve been accused of, and I’ll absolutely cooperate with the police to assist them attain the reality. I sit up for returning to play as quickly as potential.”

Rayssa de Freitas reportedly claimed she wanted hospital therapy after being assaulted by Antony and a girl in May final 12 months.

Various retailers stated Ms De Freitas reported the alleged incident to the Sao Paulo Civil Police, Sky Sports stated.

Another girl, Ingrid Lana, has claimed in a Brazilian TV interview she was pressured by Antony to have intercourse whereas on a enterprise journey to England final 12 months.

Ms Lana alleged Antony invited her to his home and pushed her in opposition to a wall which led to her banging her head.
