Carlo Ancelotti stated he needed to stay at Real Madrid past 2026 after the Italian inked a two-year contract extension on the Spanish membership final week.
The 64-year-old, whose earlier contract was resulting from expire on the finish of June, has been at Real since 2021, having beforehand managed the membership from 2013 to 2015.
He has gained one league title with Real, together with two Champions League trophies and two Club World Cups.
“My contract was up on June 30. The club has decided to do it now because they’re happy with our work,” Ancelotti instructed reporters on Tuesday forward of a house recreation in opposition to Mallorca.
“I don’t know if it will be my last spell as a coach. I don’t know what will happen once I finish here. I might still be here in 2026, depending on how successful I am.
“I’d wish to be Madrid coach till 2026, and hopefully I can proceed to be right here in 2027 and 2028 as a result of I need to keep right here.”
Prior to signing the extension Ancelotti had been linked with a move to Brazil’s national team, with ex-Brazilian FA (CBF) president Ednaldo Rodrigues having said he was the preferred candidate.
But Ancelotti said staying at Real had always been his priority.
“I used to be proud (to be thought of), but it surely was all depending on my state of affairs with Real Madrid and that it was all clear,” he added.
“Ednaldo will not be the president proper now and all the things has gone the way in which I needed as a result of I’m in a position to keep right here. Thinking about being the Brazil coach was thrilling, however I do not know if they may need me in 2026.
“I don’t know if they will be happy with this decision.”
