Phillip Schofield steps down from This Morning: His assertion in full – and Holly Willoughby’s response

Phillip Schofield is stepping down from This Morning with “immediate effect” after greater than 20 years on the ITV programme.

Here is the presenter’s assertion in full:

“I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.

“Throughout my profession in TV – together with the very tough previous few days – I’ve all the time completed my greatest to be honourable and type.

“I perceive that ITV has determined the present scenario cannot go on, and I wish to do what I can to guard the present that I really like.

“So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future.

“I’d prefer to thank everybody who has supported me – particularly This Morning’s wonderful viewers – and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards subsequent month.”

Holly Willoughby stated on Instagram:

“Hi everyone … It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour.

“The couch will not really feel the identical with out him.”

“After more than 20 years on the This Morning sofa, Phillip Schofield has stepped back from ITV’s flagship morning show having presented his last episode on Thursday 18 May.

“Having co-hosted the multi-award successful present for 20 years, Phillip will proceed to current peak time reveals for ITV together with subsequent month’s The British Soap Awards and a brand new prime time collection.

“Holly Willoughby will remain on This Morning and will co-present with members of the This Morning family.”
