Brexit would ‘most definitely’ be in danger if Tories ousted at election
Deputy chairman of the Conservative Party Lee Anderson has claimed that Brexit is in danger if the Tories are ousted on the subsequent election.
He warned in opposition to Labour taking workplace, telling the Daily Express: “If Sir Keir [Starmer] gets his hands on the keys to No10 he would drag the UK back into the EU.
“He may say he respects Brexit, but as we already know he always breaks his promises.
“After all, this is the same man who campaigned for a second referendum and wants to reopen negotiations with the EU. Only the Conservatives respect the will of the people and can keep Brexit safe.”
A new Express.co.uk poll has proven that greater than 4 in 5 readers agree that Brexit is in danger if the Conservative Party loses on the subsequent election.
In a ballot that ran from 1pm on Thursday, May 11, to 11.30am on Friday, May 12, Express.co.uk asked readers: “Is Brexit at risk if Tories lose next election?”
Overall, 3,536 votes had been solid with the overwhelming majority, 83 % (2,951 individuals) answering, “yes”, Brexit is in danger, whereas 15 % (522 individuals) stated, “no”, it’s not. An extra two % (63 individuals) stated they didn’t know both approach.
Hundreds of feedback had been left under the accompanying article as readers shared their thoughts in a lively debate.
Of the readers who argued that Brexit was in danger, username RINGOCAB declared: “Most definitely, without a doubt!”
Similarly, username RY28 stated: “Yes Brexit is at risk, a Labour/Lib Dem coalition government would drag us back into the EU against the will of the British people.”
However, some commented that rejoining the EU may very well be helpful. Username ianjones stated: “Brexit and the Tories have ripped up civil liberties and wrecked the economy. Rejoin will increase freedom and democracy and improve the economy.”
While username ChillyPenguin remarked: “Brexit will always be at risk, because it’s a bad idea that’s been implemented in a bad way.”
