Bike crash victims have been ‘chased to their dying by police’, aunt claims

The aunt of one of many teenage boys who died in an electric bike crash claims they have been “chased to their death” by police.

Kyrees Sullivan, 16, and Harvey Evans, 15, have been killed every week in the past.

The tragedy sparked rioting within the Ely district of Cardiff amid claims on social media the boys have been pursued by police shortly earlier than the accident. Police initially denied the rumours.

Nine folks have been arrested through the dysfunction and 15 officers injured.

South Wales Police later referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct after CCTV footage emerged displaying a police van showing to comply with the e-bike.

Around a thousand folks attended a vigil for Harvey and Kyrees final Friday. Speaking to the BBC, Harvey’s aunt, Hayley Murphy, mentioned: “They were two children who were chased to their death by South Wales Police. That is basically it.”

Ms Murphy mentioned Harvey had been giving his finest pal a carry residence on the Sur-Ron electrical bike that had been an early sixteenth birthday current once they encountered police.

She alleged: “Harvey only just had this bike and didn’t want to lose it. He turned back and police gave chase.”

She mentioned after the crash she waited on the police barrier along with her sister, Harvey’s mom, for greater than two hours, “begging them to tell us if they were alive or dead, and they wouldn’t”.

Ms Murphy mentioned officers “came to the house around four hours after it happened…and said ‘there have been two fatalities but we can’t confirm who they are’.”

She added: “How can you treat a family of a young boy like that?”

South Wales Police mentioned it “cannot comment any further” because of the ongoing investigations by the drive and IOPC.
