Bikers poised to circle London on M25 as they workforce as much as cease ULEZ scheme

Thousands of bikers are getting ready to circle on the M25 orbital motorway to protest Sadiq Khan’s scheme.

Motorcyclists shall be assembly at key places across the busy highway to display their opposition to the scheme, which is because of be enforced in the entire capital’s 32 boroughs from August 29.

Phil Elliot, UK Unites, mentioned: “Motorbikes are a part of the answer not the issue.

“Two wheels, an engine and the power to maneuver simply round must be promoted not penalised.”

“For many, motorbikes were a passion, a lifestyle or a necessity which had been proven to reduce congestion and pollution,” he said.

Mr Elliot added: “The ULEZ is an unnecessary cash grab hitting the poorest in a cost of living crisis and must be scrapped.”

Howard Cox, Founder of FairFuel UK and London Mayoral Candidate, said: “3.6 million licensed motorcyclists travel a staggering 4.4 billion miles across the country on two wheels and into our cities every year.

“Yet Sadiq Khan classifies them not as the lowest road user emitters they undoubtedly are or that they take trifling space on our roads, NO! he sees them as easy to fleece cash cows.

“They do more in improving air quality than any petrol-powered vehicle.”

Lembit Opik, Director of Communications & Public Affairs, Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) and a former Liberal Democrat MP, said: “Motorcyclists are incensed by the hated ULEZ expansion. It’s unnecessary, unjustified and unscientific.

“There’s no health benefit to this tax on access to the city. Bikers are part of the travel solution, not the problem, and even older bikes cut emissions and congestion.

“But promise-breaking Khan doesn’t care. That’s why thousands of riders from London and beyond are standing up to the most undemocratic and anti-biker mayor in London’s history.”

Nick Arlett, Action in opposition to ULEZ mentioned: “Two wheels ain’t a interest, they’re a lifestyle. Don’t simply sit and lose what you’re keen on. Join us in our trip for freedom.”

Speaking in July, a spokesman for Mr Khan mentioned: “The Mayor has been clear that the decision to expand the Ultra Low Emission Zone London-wide was not an easy one, but necessary to tackle toxic air pollution and the climate crisis.

“Around 4,000 Londoners die prematurely each year due to air pollution, children are growing up with stunted lungs and thousands of people in our city are developing life-changing illnesses, such as cancer, lung disease, dementia and asthma.

“We know the ULEZ works as it’s already allowed more than four million people to breathe cleaner air in inner London and harmful nitrogen dioxide concentrations have been cut by nearly half in central London.”
